David Higgins


Ph.D. Leadership with specialization in Counselor Education and Supervision: University of the Cumberlands.
M.A.E. Education with specialization in Mental Health Counseling: Western Kentucky University.
B.S. Psychology (major), Sociology (minor) Education: University of Southern Indiana.


David grew up in the southwestern Indiana and was active in his hometown Methodist church. His professional work experiences include management, counseling, and teaching in higher education. After years of running a solo private practice (Higgins Counseling Services, LCC), he presently works as a therapist and behavioral specialist at a Federally Qualified Health Center. He has been an adjunct professor for Lindsey Wilson College since 2000. He is an active member of Chi Sigma Iota, an honor society which promotes academic and clinical excellence in the counseling profession. David has extensive expertise in counseling adolescents and adults with anxiety and affective disorders. His primary counseling theoretical orientation is Person-Centered therapy, but he also extensively utilizes Reality Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.

David's personal interests include spending time with his family, especially annual trips to the Smoky Mountains. He enjoys listening to music for relaxation, particularly the songs of Warren Zevon. David also enjoys watching NFL games, as he routs for his beloved Cleveland Browns
